I found the missing photo of all the rolls of batting at patricia's fabrics! Blame a faulty phone sim card! So here it is... I'll need to decide what variety to use very soon!
I found some owl fabric that would work for backing the quilt. It was 30% off in Joanne's ... now if only I could get them to sell me it at normal price so I could use a 50% off coupon and bring it down to $4/yd!
It's been a busy week in blog land! I've met a few new people, had conversations with others, and entered a couple of give away competitions! Some people have given me some really useful lists of links to online fabric stores, podcasts and I will be checking out all of those for sure!
Hope everyone is having a nice fabricky weekend :)
Generally speaking, Joann's will allow you to use your 50% coupon on sale fabric and you are right they will simply raise it to the original price. I LOVE OWLS!!!! Good choice!!
ReplyDeleteawesome! bloggers are the source of all good news and useful info! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI remembered you like owls from one of the podcasts... I don't know if you could see them in the photo, but my quilt top has maybe half a dozen squares with owls on. I found the fat quarter in the sale bin at Intown Quilters in Atlanta and the colors matched the rest of my fabrics I'd already got for the top! I think an owl fabric backing will complement the top nicely and make the quilt reversible!
The Owl backing sounds like a great idea, and of course bargains are even better :-)
ReplyDeleteTalking of deals... if you "like" fat quarter shop on facebook they send you updates of cracking deals... 50% off and the like. Also, there's a great site Stitchsteals.com that has a super deal every day.
Also, there's the Fat Quarterly e-magazine - the magazine itself is fantastic, with loads of pattern ideas and tutorials, but it aslo has a page of special offer deals each issue ;-)
Thanks Sarah! I have gone and liked the FB page for the Fat Quarter Shop! I'd heard of the Fat Quarterly (what a great name for a magazine!) but it's a bit pricey! maybe when I get a pay rise!
ReplyDeleteYou need a road trip. :-) http://www.springlakefabrics.com/ They also have an online shop. Owned by the Amish, and therefore Amish prices. :-)
ReplyDeletethanks for the link to the shop - I read about that on one of your previous blog posts! It sounded a great shop to visit!
ReplyDeletePicked up the owl fabric at 30% off and used the 50% coupon on some batting, so except for the border fabric I'm ready to finish off this quilt :)
Do you recommend anywhere in Rochester for renting time on a long arm?
Ha, good luck with getting that to happen! Every time I have a 50% off coupon, everything I want is on sale already, but much less percent off, so I don't bother so much any more. I did get two interfacings the other day to try as embroidery stabilizers. That's the most money I've spent there in a while, and I think it was about $3!
